Nissens Compressor Failure Trouble Shooting
***CRITICAL INSTALLATION NOTE: Most compressor manufacturers recommend the replacement of "critical components" to maintain the compressor warranty. (See Warranty)
***COMPRESSOR FAILURE: Flushing the AC system is always required following a compressor failure. The accumulator or receiver/dryer, and the orifice tube or expansion valve cannot be flushed and must be replaced prior to installing a new compressor.
Warning: Failure to follow these steps may void the manufacturers warranty.
The installer may be required to submit evidence of compliance to the requirements herein to the manufacturer under a warranty claim.
- Refer to the manufacturer’s service information for full instructions.
- Refer to engine compartment decal for proper lubricant, refrigerant and capacities.
- Replacement of "critical components" that may be damaged or contaminated due to a compressor failure.
Only R12 or R134A refrigerants and compatible lubricants (oil) can be used in the A/C compressor.
Recommended "critical components" to be replaced when installing a new compressor.
- Accumulator or Receiver/Drier replacement.
- Expansion valve/device replacement.
- Hose (with orifice tube or muffler) assembly replacement.
- Condenser replacement for (a) applications after 1994 and (b) R12 to R134A retrofits.
