Why mod? Why not! The global aftermarket value is expected to exceed $1 trillion by 2022. With all those sales, people who mod their cars must be onto something.

Digging into the world of aftermarket car mods is a fun way to improve your car's performance and look, and you don't even have to be a full-blown mechanic to do so either.

Here are a few ideas of some of the most popular car mods.

Freshen up With a Paint Job

Giving your car a paint job is a surefire way to customize your ride and stand out from the crowd. The coolest thing about a paint job is you can't go wrong.

Choose any color you'd like, just be sure not to paint it to look like a police cruiser

Professional paint jobs can be expensive, but you can get the same effect from a vinyl wrap too.

Car Mods for Better Handling

Some of the most popular car mods improve your car's handling.

There are a bunch of European aftermarket parts that are designed to transfer your car's power to the asphalt, for a smooth and controlled ride.

Tires

The easiest way to do this is a new set of tires. Sure, a ton of engine power will feel great, but its where the rubber meets the road that allows you to control that power.

There are tires for cold weather, hot weather, tires that will grip better than others, and if you want to race your car, there are tires for that too.

Suspension

Modifying your suspension system will give you more control on the road. Lowering your car lowers its center of gravity, which makes cornering easier and more fun.

Lifting your vehicle will also affect its handling. Make sure you go to a qualified shop to get it right.

Wheels

Modding your car's wheels is one of the most popular ways to change its overall appearance. Adding something like a Rotiform wheel will make it look good.

A new wheelset can set you back quite a bit, but you don't have to go crazy to make a big difference (unless you want to of course).

Seat Upgrades

Upgrading your stock cloth seats to aftermarket leather seats is a luxurious mod that will make you and your car both look and feel good. Ever wanted to have heated seats? Now's your chance.

Have you heard of sport seats? They're the ones that look like they belong in a race car, and they not only look awesome, but they tend to offer a lot more support and comfort than your car's stock seats too.

Choose either of these mods, and you'll be sitting quite pretty.

Window Tinting

Adding a tint to your windows not only looks cool, but it also keeps you cooler by blocking the sun's rays.

Plus if you live in a warmer climate, a good window tint can up the resell value of your car.

Put the Pedal to the Metal
